The family of Christine Julia George is deeply saddened to announce her passing on 20th July 2025, at the age of 65. A lifelong resident of Charters Towers, Christine’s life was marked by her devotion to family, her generosity of spirit, and her unwavering faith.
Born into a large and loving family, Christine was the beloved daughter of Mavis Kitchen (née Wilson) and the late William Newman. She was the devoted wife of the late Lui George, with whom she shared many years of love, partnership, and family life.
Christine was a proud and nurturing mother to Roslyn, Noel, Mavis, and Wendy, who will forever treasure the wisdom, guidance, and love she gave so freely. She also leaves behind a legacy as a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, whose gentle presence, kind words, and endless love will continue to echo through the generations of her family.
She is survived by her siblings Wilmay, Lionel, Wendy, Douglas, and Stephen, and remembered fondly alongside her late siblings Denise, Trevor, and David. Christine also held a special place in the lives of her nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended relatives, who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Christine will be remembered for her unshakable kindness, compassion, and strength. She had a gift for making others feel welcome and valued, whether through a warm smile, a listening ear, or words of encouragement. She gave freely of herself to her family and friends, always placing the needs of others above her own.
Outside of her family life, Christine was deeply respected within the Charters Towers community. She was known as a friend to many, a woman who could be counted on in both times of joy and sorrow, and someone who carried her faith with humility and grace.
Christine’s interests reflected her love for family and togetherness—she enjoyed simple pleasures, moments spent with loved ones, and celebrating the milestones of those she held dear. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will remember her as a constant source of love and inspiration, and her legacy will live on in the lessons she imparted and the lives she touched.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Christine’s life will be held at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Charters Towers, on Friday, 5th September 2025, commencing at 10:00 a.m. All who knew and loved Christine are warmly invited to attend, to honor her memory and share in the celebration of a life well-lived.
Though Christine has departed this world, her spirit remains forever with those she loved. She will be remembered as a woman of immense heart, whose love, laughter, and devotion will never fade.
“In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place, no one else will ever fill.”
