Columbus police have released the identity of the man who died following a weekend shooting that investigators are calling a tragic accident involving family members.
Authorities confirmed that 24-year-old Is’shan Trowsdell passed away on Thursday, days after suffering critical injuries in the shooting, which occurred early Saturday, August 24, in the 300 block of East 1st Avenue.
Officers arrived on scene shortly before 5 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire and discovered two adults with gunshot wounds. Trowsdell was rushed to the hospital in life-threatening condition and remained under care until his passing. The second victim, whose name has not been released, was treated for injuries and later discharged.
Detectives said the gunfire resulted from a “non-intentional discharge between family members.” No charges have been filed at this time, though the case will be forwarded to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office for review once the investigation is complete.
