Dr. Sarah Kristin Assali, Esteemed Surgeon and Compassionate Healer, Dies at 33
Dr. Sarah Kristin Assali, 33, of Allentown, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on August 24, 2025. Born in Allentown, Sarah was the beloved daughter of Ghassan Assali and Sarmad (Saoud) Assali. A proud graduate of Parkland High School, she went on to earn her B.S. from Drexel University and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Sarah completed her General Surgery residency at Allegheny Hospital before beginning her career as an attending physician at Tidal Health Hospital in Maryland.

Sarah’s life was defined by her intelligence, compassion, and dedication to others. A gifted surgeon, she combined exceptional skill with genuine kindness, caring deeply for both her patients and the broader community she served. Her healing spirit extended beyond people—she was known for her love of animals and her instinct to nurture and protect all living beings.

Her friends and family will remember her as passionate, courageous, fiercely independent, and adventurous. Sarah had an unshakable drive to achieve whatever she set her mind to, balancing her love of exploration with a commitment to advocacy and care. She touched countless lives with her warmth, generosity, and bright spirit.

She is survived by her parents, Ghassan and Sarmad Assali, her brother, Joseph Assali, her grandmother, and a large, loving extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 29, 2025 at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 1011 Catasauqua Avenue, Allentown. Calling hours will be 7–9 PM Thursday at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th & Hamilton Streets, Allentown, and from 9–10 AM Friday at the church, followed by interment at Laurel Cemetery, Whitehall.

Sarah will be deeply missed, but her legacy of healing, compassion, and love will live on in the countless lives she touched.
