SANDY TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 22-year-old North Canton man early Friday morning in Stark County.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:59 a.m. on August 29, 2025, along State Route 43 near Indian Run Road. According to investigators, Michael D. Weaver was driving a gray 2013 BMW 528xi northbound when his vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway for unknown reasons. The BMW struck a tree with significant force before bursting into flames.
Bystanders at the scene acted heroically, pulling Weaver from the wrecked vehicle just moments before it became fully engulfed. Emergency responders with Quad EMS transported him to Aultman Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.
The Mohawk Valley Fire Department, along with Quad EMS, assisted troopers at the scene in extinguishing the fire and securing the crash site.
Authorities have not yet determined what caused Weaver to lose control of his vehicle. Investigators are considering speed, mechanical failure, and other potential contributing factors as part of the ongoing investigation.
Weaver’s tragic death marks yet another reminder of the dangers of roadway crashes in Stark County. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is urging drivers to exercise caution, remain alert, and obey posted speed limits to help prevent further tragedies.
