El Paso County, CO – Authorities have released the identity of the man found dead inside a truck following a violent crash and shooting on Highway 24 earlier this week.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) confirmed that 29-year-old Noel Gutierrez-Cano was discovered deceased after a three-vehicle crash that occurred on the morning of Tuesday, August 26, 2025, near the intersection of Highway 24 and Blue Gill Drive, just south of Judge Orr Road.
Deputies say Gutierrez-Cano suffered at least one gunshot wound before emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have classified his death as a homicide.
According to EPSO and the Colorado State Patrol, the crash was reported shortly after 8:15 a.m. Witnesses told deputies that the driver of the truck—a white 2013 GMC Sierra Denali towing a black trailer—fled the scene on foot immediately after the collision. Authorities have not released a suspect description and continue to search for the individual responsible.
The case has drawn significant attention in the local community, with investigators piecing together both the events leading up to the crash and the circumstances surrounding the gunfire. Detectives are urging anyone who may have been traveling in the area between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. to review dashcam footage or check security cameras for any suspicious vehicles or individuals that may aid the investigation.
