Stoke Newington High Street Closed Following Reported Shooting

Stoke Newington High Street in Hackney has been closed to both vehicles and pedestrians following reports of a shooting early this morning. According to traffic monitoring service Inrix, the closure was implemented between midnight and 1 a.m.

The affected stretch runs from Amhurst Road to Kynaston Avenue, disrupting access toward Dalston and Finsbury Park. Officers from the Metropolitan Police are on scene, with visible presence near Sainsbury’s and Stoke Newington Methodist Church.

Traffic in the surrounding area remains light, though minor congestion has been reported on Rectory Road, which runs parallel to the High Street. Several bus routes—67, 76, 149, 243, and 276—are currently being diverted.
