Authorities have confirmed the arrest of 27-year-old Vanessa Esquivel in connection with the heartbreaking death of her 15-month-old child, who was left inside a vehicle for more than two hours on August 16, 2025. On the day of the incident, temperatures climbed to at least 95 degrees, and investigators noted that the car’s air conditioning was not operational.
Following a thorough investigation, officials determined that Esquivel’s actions amounted to murder due to the intentional endangerment of her child, which tragically resulted in the toddler’s death. A warrant was issued, and Esquivel was taken into custody by Dallas Police on August 20. She was later transferred to the custody of Frisco authorities and is currently being held at the Collin County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
Esquivel now faces a first-degree felony murder charge, which carries a potential sentence of five years to life in prison along with fines of up to $10,000.
