The Cedar Branch community is deeply saddened by the passing of Christian Hemingway, 18, who left this world far too soon on August 18, 2025. His untimely departure has left his family, friends, and neighbors heartbroken, yet united in love as they celebrate the remarkable young man he was.
Born and raised in Cedar Branch, Christian was known for his bright smile, kind heart, and genuine love for others. A recent graduate of Loris High School, he was admired by teachers and classmates for his dedication, respectfulness, and joyful spirit. Christian was an avid athlete who played on the school’s basketball team, where he not only excelled on the court but also inspired his teammates through encouragement and sportsmanship.
Beyond athletics, Christian had a passion for music and enjoyed spending time writing lyrics and creating beats, often sharing his creativity with close friends. His faith and strong ties to Cedar Branch Baptist Church played an important role in his life, grounding him in love, humility, and compassion for others.
Christian had big dreams for his future. He aspired to attend college and pursue a career in engineering, with the hope of giving back to his community and being a role model for others. Those who knew him say he was motivated, hardworking, and determined to build a life that honored his family and faith.
Funeral services celebrating Christian’s life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Cedar Branch Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A public viewing will take place on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the DL Grate Memorial Chapel.
The family will also receive friends and loved ones at their home, 280 Cedar Branch Rd., Loris, SC, where they welcome all who wish to share memories, comfort, and support.

Christian will forever be remembered as a son, grandson, brother, and friend who left a lasting mark on every life he touched. Though his years were few, his impact was immeasurable. His legacy of kindness, perseverance, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
