Authorities Investigating Death of CSUSB Student Found at Cal Poly Pomona Campus

Authorities are investigating the death of a California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) student who was found unresponsive earlier this week on the campus of Cal Poly Pomona. The incident has raised numerous questions as law enforcement and university officials work to understand the events leading up to the tragedy.

The student, whose name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, was discovered in a campus parking structure at Cal Poly Pomona. Emergency personnel responded quickly to the scene, but despite efforts to save the individual, the student was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

While the student was enrolled at CSUSB, it is currently unclear why they were on the Cal Poly Pomona campus at the time of the incident. Investigators from both universities’ police departments, in conjunction with local law enforcement, are collaborating on the case. The cause of death has not yet been determined, and the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office is conducting an autopsy and toxicology screening.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Cal Poly Pomona extended its condolences to the student’s loved ones and the broader California State University community. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of a member of our CSU family. Our thoughts are with the student’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement read.

CSUSB officials also addressed the loss, noting that counseling services are being made available to students, faculty, and staff. “This is a devastating moment for our campus, and we are committed to providing support as we grieve together,” said a CSUSB spokesperson.

As of now, there is no official indication of foul play, but investigators have not ruled out any possibilities. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage, campus entry records, and interviewing potential witnesses to construct a clearer timeline.

The incident has sparked renewed conversations about campus safety, mental health awareness, and communication between institutions within the CSU system. Both universities have affirmed their commitment to supporting affected students and maintaining transparent communication as the investigation progresses.

Students at Cal Poly Pomona and CSUSB are encouraged to access counseling and wellness resources available on their campuses if they need support during this time.

Authorities will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
