Authorities Seek Help in Identifying Driver in Fatal Hit-and-Run That Killed Army Veteran Devin Chapman
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver involved in a tragic hit-and-run that claimed the life of 33-year-old Devin Chapman, a U.S. Army veteran and father of two.
What Happened
On the evening of Thursday, August 1, 2025, Chapman was riding his 2007 Yamaha XV 1700 motorcycle northbound on Interstate 65 near the 228-mile marker in Shelby County. Around 8:10 p.m., an unidentified vehicle struck him and fled the scene without offering assistance. Chapman was ejected from his motorcycle and died at the scene. Despite wearing a helmet, his injuries were fatal.
