Kim Sellers, Cherished Community Member and Bremen Hall of Fame Inductee, Dies After Battle with Cancer
The community is mourning the loss of Kim Sellers, 56, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 11:47 a.m., following a courageous seven-year battle with cancer.

Kim’s life was defined by faith, resilience, and love—qualities that touched her family, her students, her community, and friends near and far.

Early Life & Education

Born on January 10, 1969, in Bremen, Indiana, to Robert and Sue (Welch) Hickman, Kim grew up with an unstoppable determination and zest for life. A 1987 graduate of Bremen High School, she was a standout athlete in volleyball, basketball, and tennis, later earning a place in the Bremen High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Her love of athletics continued at Huntington University, where she was once again a three-sport competitor, playing tennis, basketball, and softball. She graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and was later honored with induction into the Huntington University Athletic Hall of Fame. Committed to lifelong learning, Kim went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Education from Olivet Nazarene University.

Family & Personal Life

On August 13, 1994, Kim married the love of her life, Norm Sellers, in Bremen. Together they built a home rooted in faith, laughter, and love—first in Bremen and later in Wakarusa—where they raised their three sons, Trent, Chad, and Kyle.

Kim’s greatest joy was being a mother. She lived to support her boys in every endeavor—whether cheering from the sidelines, planning family adventures, or enjoying evenings at home. Her love and encouragement remain an unshakable foundation in their lives.

Career & Legacy

Professionally, Kim devoted herself to teaching as a 4th grade teacher at Bremen Public Schools. She was more than an educator—she was a mentor, encourager, and role model. Her students remember her not only for lessons in the classroom but for the compassion, confidence, and curiosity she instilled in them.

Joys & Interests

Beyond work and family, Kim found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved the beach, where she found peace and made cherished memories with her family, and she looked forward to Christmas ski trips in Northern Michigan, traditions that strengthened her family’s bond.

She enjoyed shopping, art, and pottery, creating keepsakes that will forever remind loved ones of her creativity and spirit. At home, her beloved dogs, Wrigley and River, brought her comfort and companionship.

Surviving Family

Kim is survived by her husband of 31 years, Norm Sellers; her sons, Trent (Alexis Houk) Sellers of Wakarusa, Chad (Kylie) Sellers of Carmel, IN, and Kyle Sellers of Wakarusa; her brother, Dr. Kevin (Heidi) Hickman of Bremen; and nephews Dawson, Camden, and Maddux Hickman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Sue Hickman.
