It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Grant Arbuthnot, who left us yesterday. Grant was a man of remarkable character, a loyal friend, and a generous soul whose presence enriched the lives of everyone around him.
Grant shared a lifelong friendship with my father, built on decades of shared experiences and mutual respect. Their bond was formed through years of playing water polo, basketball, and bowls, where Grant’s teamwork, sportsmanship, and joyful spirit shone brightly. In more recent years, they could often be found together at the BSA, sharing the thrill of sporting events, side by side, always supporting each other.
Beyond his friendship with my father, Grant was a steadfast friend to many, always willing to lend a helping hand, offer advice, or simply provide a listening ear. He was also a source of guidance and support to me personally on many occasions, showing wisdom, kindness, and a generosity of spirit that few possess.
Grant’s passion for life extended beyond sports. He had a love for community, valued meaningful connections, and treated everyone he met with respect and compassion. His laughter, encouragement, and unwavering loyalty left a lasting impression on family, friends, and everyone privileged to know him.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Arbuthnot family. Grant’s legacy of friendship, kindness, and support will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Rest peacefully, Grant. A true friend, mentor, and legend—you will never be forgotten.
